With Valletta celebrating its 450th anniversary as well as its role as European Capital of Culture, 2018 is a big year for Malta’s capital city. Between 26th May and 2nd June, it will also become the host city for the 8th edition of Malta Fashion Week and the 20th edition of the Malta Fashion Awards, welcoming local and international talent from the global fashion industry for the ultimate high-fashion networking party.

From the swoon-worthy collections to the stunning venues, here’s why Malta Fashion Week is unmissable for fashionistas everywhere.

The Venues

Whether it’s New York or Milan, Fashion Weeks held around the world take place in some of the most beautiful locations in the host country, and Malta is no exception.

The many catwalk shows will be held throughout the week at the stunning Fort St Elmo in Valletta – one of Malta’s most historic forts – which is nestled between two huge harbours. The panoramic sea views surrounding it will provide the perfect backdrop for the clothing creativity of the shows.

Meanwhile, the glamourous Fashion Awards themselves will be held at the beautiful and newly-restored Triton Fountain by the entrance of Valletta, ideal for your latest Instagram story.

The Designers

A plethora of local and international designers will be presenting their latest collections as part of Malta Fashion Week.

With numerous fashion shows and presentations contributed by major local designers (such as Herman Vassallo and Ritienne Zammit) and big name international designers from Spain, Greece, France, Serbia, Australia, Argentina and Denmark, there’s plenty to keep the fashion inspiration flowing.

The People

Fashionistas may often find that, when dressed perfectly en vogue, their statement style is misunderstood by those not interested in fashion or current trends. Not so at Malta Fashion Week.

With fashion-lovers flocking to watch the shows and to network with other industry enthusiasts and professionals, this is the unique chance for your #OOTD (Outfit of the Day) to receive the appreciation it deserves.

The Networking

Speaking of the people – with hundreds of creatives such as designers, catwalk models, stylists, makeup artists, photographers and fashion bloggers all under one roof – Malta Fashion Week is an unmissable networking opportunity for fashion enthusiasts and professionals from all around the world.

And with such a diverse programme of events through the week, including awards parties, fashion shows, exhibitions, design workshops and pop-up shops, there will be an ever-changing pool of fashion-related guests and influencers with whom you can mingle and draw inspiration.

The Recognition

As the highlight of Malta Fashion Week and the most anticipated fashion party of the year, the 2018 edition of the Chamilia Malta Fashion Awards on 2nd June promises to be a night to remember for all sorts of people in this fabulous industry.

Celebrated at the new Pjazza Tritoni surrounding the restored Triton Fountain, the prestigious Awards ceremony will see the work of the top people in fashion this year being recognised with the much-coveted fashion awards.

With international media covering proceedings, the event will also include spectacular hair and fashion shows, before wrapping up the whole week with the now-legendary glamourous after-party.
